Industrial Product Testing

The Industrial Product Testing Laboratory (LÎPI) within the State Enterprise “Centre of Applied Metrology and Certification” (S.E. “CMAC”) is the successor of the former State Control Laboratory of Moldova, established in 1955. The current name was adopted in 2002.

LÎPI is accredited by the National Accreditation Center of the Republic of Moldova (MOLDAC), in accordance with the requirements of the SM EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 standard. Accreditation Certificate No. LÎ-093 attests to the laboratory’s competencies, with the first accreditation obtained in 2005.

Activities and Objectives

LÎPI performs testing for the electrical safety of low-voltage electrical equipment, in accordance with electrical safety requirements. The main goal of these activities is to ensure consumer protection in the Republic of Moldova by verifying the compliance of electrical products with European standards.

LÎPI Activity Principles

  • Independence and impartiality: The laboratory operates transparently and impartially, ensuring confidentiality and protection of client interests.
  • Professionalism: The team consists of specialists with proven technical skills and experience.
  • Modern equipment: The laboratory uses high-performance and portable equipment, calibrated to international standards, ensuring precision in testing.

The Importance of Electrical Safety Testing

The tests carried out by the laboratory verify the conformity of the structural, technical, and functional parameters of electrical products with the tolerances allowed by applicable European standards. Identifying compliance or non-compliance significantly contributes to preventing health and safety risks.

A Call to Manufacturers, Importers, and Consumers

Manufacturers and importers of electrical products are invited to use LÎPI’s services to confirm the compliance of their products with electrical safety requirements. Likewise, consumers who have doubts about the functioning of an electrical product can turn to the laboratory to prevent risks and ensure safety.

Safety and quality of life depend on the use of compliant products.

The tests performed by LÎPI are essential for ensuring user safety and compliance with standards. Rely on our services with confidence for a safer environment!

The types of tests and methods used by the **Industrial Product Testing Laboratory (LÎPI)** of S.E. “CMAC” are detailed in the Annex to the LÎPI Accreditation Certificate of S.E. “CMAC” dated 29.02.2024.

The laboratory conducts tests in accordance with the requirements of European standards (EN), covering the following product categories:

  • Electrical appliances for household use.
  • Audio/video and information and communication technology equipment.
  • Lighting fixtures.
  • Electric tools.
  • Switches for fixed electrical installations for household use.
  • Small electrical appliances.
  • Circuit breakers for overcurrent protection in household and similar installations.
  • Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
  • LED lamps and modules.

Testing Methods Used

The laboratory tests are performed using clearly defined methods:

1. Visual Methods:

  • Verification of safety class and marking.
  • Constructional and dimensional checks.
  • Verification of protection against access to live parts.
  • Verification of stability and mechanical hazards.

2. Electrophysical Methods:

  • Measurement of power and current.
  • Measurement of leakage current.
  • Measurement of insulation resistance.
  • Dielectric strength test.
  • Protective grounding circuit test.

3. Instrumental Measurements:

  • Determination of clearance, creepage distances, and insulation spacing.

The tests conducted by the laboratory allow verification of the structural, technical, and functional parameters of electrical products against the requirements of European standards. This process identifies both conformity and non-conformity, contributing to the protection of users’ health and safety.
